LAS VEGAS, Nevada – On the evening of February 26, 2010, NASCAR driver and Las Vegas native Kyle Busch surprised the children at Boys Town Nevada with a catered dinner, weekend tickets to both Saturday's Sam's Town 300 and Sunday's Shelby American Sprint Cup Series race and a check for $3,000.00. Kyle Busch, Crew Chief Dave Rogers, and representatives from M&M’s and Toyota dined with the children for more than two hours. Kyle signed autographs and spoke about the importance of working hard to achieve your goals in life. “I’m excited to be here tonight with all of you,” said Kyle Busch to the crowd of more than 60 Boys Town kids and staff. “I chose to support the organization because I believe in the work Boys Town does. It feels good to be able to give something back to my hometown.” Boys Town Nevada, an affiliate of the original Father Flanagan’s Boys Home, has been saving the lives of children and healing families in Southern Nevada for nearly 20 years. The Kyle Busch Foundation partnered with the organization in 2007. Since that time, Kyle has been a source of hope and inspiration for the kids and families of Boys Town. Each holiday season, Kyle has quietly helped provide Christmas presents for the children along with clothing and financial support throughout the year. Boys Town Executive Director Tom Waite adds, “Whatever the need, Kyle has always been there, asking nothing in return.” “It’s such an honor for Boys Town Nevada to be associated with NASCAR star Kyle Busch,” said Tom Waite, Boys Town Nevada Executive Director. “It’s amazing that he’s concerned not only with racing, but with making a difference in the lives of less fortunate youth. It’s rare to find individuals of his age with such a genuine passion for philanthropy. Of all the places Kyle could be during NASCAR weekend, he chose to spend Friday night having dinner with our kids. In the eyes of our children, he’s a hero.” Boys Town Nevada’s continuum of programs, including Treatment Family Homes, In-Home Family Services and Common Sense Parenting®, are designed to help children and families before they enter the foster care system, while in the system, and after they exit. Children and families are placed in a level of care that fits their need. This growing continuum of programs makes Boys Town Nevada unique, and essential to southern Nevada’s hurting families.
