Seniors

Senior Volunteers

More than 42 million Americans are over 60 years of age. These older citizens are one of our country’s greatest natural resources. For a senior, offering to share your experience, wisdom and talent is a great way to give back and say involved while supporting your community.

America has a proud tradition of neighbor helping neighbor and today this volunteer spirit is needed more than ever. If you have finally won the right to pursue relaxation and retirement, consider the benefits of becoming a volunteer.

There are numerous opportunities for senior citizens to share their time and talent. Here is just a partial listing:

Volunteer Center of Southern Nevada matches volunteers with local nonprofit organizations who are in need of assistance either for one time or on-going activities.

Senior Corps. is a network of programs that tap the experience, skills and talents of older citizens to meet community challenges. Programs include Foster Grandparents, Senior Companions and RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program).

AARP’s Volunteer Program provides many opportunities for community service within your community.
